Twelve Years in South Africa by Reverend James O'Haire are selections from his diary at the time when he served in western district of the Cape of Good Hope. Reverend James O'Haire was an Irish priest who started the Catholic Mission at Malmesbury. Much of his correspondence with Bishop Grimley is included, as is a lively picture of the social conditions, interspersed with condemnation of his Protestant colleagues.
